Theater is a celebration! A celebration of learning, community, and creativity. And Theatrical Happenings is a workshop that models a fabulously fun play space that will challenge participants to engage their voices, bodies, and imaginations in bringing this celebration to life in their classrooms.
Youth work and education professionals will not only learn theater-inspired games and activities they can bring into their classes, they will also explore the connections between these games and essential developmental experiences for students. Most importantly, we will highlight the best ways to ask reflective questions after the games so that students will acknowledge, celebrate, and take charge of their own learning.
Participants Outcomes:
- Articulate why theater is a useful tool in the overall development of school age children
- Engage the “Art of Asking Questions” following games and activities to help students acknowledge, celebrate, and take charge of their own learning
- Learn and practice the “Way to Play” – the key elements of effectively leading theater games in order to strengthen individual expression and group development
